Hen’s Teeth Prints are proud to release a limited edition print in aid of the REPEAL Project.
Irish writer Sarah Maria Griffin penned a stunning, evocative and tragic piece called ‘We Face This Land’, addressing the journey that Irish women face in order to have abortions abroad. The piece was accompanied by a moving video directed by Dave Tynan, which featured many well-known women plunging into the water, their bodies weighed down with a hard decision, an unsupportive nation and a broken system.
This poignant piece made us think of the work of Maria Lax, a Finnish photographer and filmmaker whose natural scenes capture moments that centre around the person out of shot. Her work explores ‘themes of loneliness, loss and nostalgia’. This focus on the unseen, and the experiences of isolation and loss felt suited to the hidden reality of the many women of Ireland making the journey abroad each day.
Maria's print is accompanied by two lines from Sarah’s piece: ‘The waves do not part, there are no miracles here’. The prints are limited to an edition of 200 printed on giclée and the profits from each print sold will go to the REPEAL Project campaign.
Prints are sent rolled in acid free contact paper with a certificate of authenticity.
